Custom-built devices for dogs
Pet Prosthetics provides the following services for dogs. We do not currently work with exotic animals.
Partial-limb prosthetics
For dogs with a residual stump that a socket can attach to.
Full-limb prosthetics
For complete limb loss, anchored by a custom body jacket or harness.
Custom braces
Support for joints and limbs that need stabilizing rather than replacing.
Mobility devices
Carts and wheelchairs for pets that are poor candidates for prosthetics.
Scaffolding devices
Structural support built around the dog's individual needs.
Custom-built artificial limbs
Every limb is designed from a scan of your dog, never from a stock size.
Cost
Every patient is unique, so the estimate comes after the scan
The total price varies with the degree of customization, the materials, and the complexity of the amputation. There is no charge for the scan should you decide not to move forward.

Large breeds
Large breeds require significantly more material, structurally reinforced components and heavy-duty hardware, all of which influence cost.
Where the amputation is
Front legs handle roughly 60% of a dog's body weight. If the limb is completely missing from the shoulder or hip, the device requires a complex harness system that affects the price.
Warranty
Two years, repair or replacement
Should anything fail in the prosthetic during the first two years, the repair or replacement is free of charge as long as normal maintenance has been kept up.
Additional cost factors
Veterinary evaluations
These may include X-rays and professional exams to determine whether the bone structure can handle a prosthetic.
Casting and mold kits
Some prosthetic companies use this method. Pet Prosthetics does not, so there is no cost for the scan of the limb.
Annual maintenance
Expect some ongoing costs for general upkeep, such as replacing worn straps, re-soling the artificial foot or adjusting the inner socket lining.
Rehabilitation therapy
Rehabilitation may be needed to teach the dog how to walk comfortably and balance on the new device.
